Utility Account Transfer
The process of moving billing responsibility for utilities (water, electricity, gas, and municipal arnona taxes) from the landlord to the tenant at the start of a lease.

When a tenancy begins, the landlord must either facilitate the utility transfer to the tenant's name or complete the process themselves within 7 days. This ensures tenants pay strictly for their own usage starting from their move-in date, rather than existing back debts owed by the landlord.
Transfers are completed by contacting the electric company, water provider, and city hall for arnona payments. You will need your ID card, the signed lease, and occasionally an up-to-date meter reading. Without a formal transfer, the landlord might remain liable for billing, creating potential friction down the line.
